A long, long time ago I was lucky enough to have what I believe is now fashionably called a "gap" year - and I can safely say all that round-the-world travel and foreign experience was wasted on my younger self.
Sure I would wax lyrical on my return about trekking up some mountain in Thailand to watch the sun rise, but I really only said all that stuff to impress girls.
And it almost never did, which is fitting - as I never actually did get out of bed in time to make it up that big hill.
Truth be told, there is only one day on that year-long adventure which has stayed with me for the long haul. July 12, 1988... Australia 12, Great Britain 26.
